Mother Effin’ Pendulum

It’s been a loooooooooooong time since I’ve been to a show where I didn’t have to work. And its been an even longer time when I was so hyped to see a show! This last Monday (yes a Monday) was one of the best shows I have ever been to. Pendulum came to LA since Coachella. I saw them at Coachella for a bried moment then I had to go back to work haha but I was always on their Myspace waiting for them to come back to the US. I heart drum and bass. I heard bands. When you put the 2 together, it becomes an amazing thing.
So the beginning of the night started off pretty cool. We went to Philippe’s to eat some great sandwiches before we went to the Mayan (sidenote, the Mayan is dope). When were eating at Philippe’s we saw a commercial for Sprint. It was similar to the “What if firefighters ran the world” but this one was “What if roadies ran the world”! That’s when Luke, Joaquin, and I were just getting crazy over it since we work in the concert production industry. It was just funny to watch and almost had a sense of pride. Don’t be fooled, we actually work more efficiently. haha check it out…
Next we went to the Mayan. We were about to go in and what happens? Joaquin says “I left my ID in the car” so he had to enter through the under 21 side… hahaha what a Joaquin but it happens. He went back and got it anyway. The group of us went up to the balcony to check out the first performer. It was Guns and Bombs who was great. It was a great set despite a few hiccups.
Then was the moment of truth! We sat upstairs for the first song to see how it was going to pan out. The band came on and from a production point of view, the lighting and sound was nuts! Freakin nice! Here’s a sample:
After the first song, we just went to the floor. Poor Andrea. Her and I were stuck in the back and a bunch of dudes were just dancing around her. So freakin funny. The rest of the crew went into the pit area. I just lost them when we all went downstairs. Good times! Here’s another clip:
Joaquin and Luke pointed out something that happened through the night. The lead singer was saying that they thought they wouldn’t do well out here but the place was packed! I guess they didn’t know that people in America would like Drum and Bass…. haha The night ended with a great encore! Check it out:
After the concert, we all headed out of the venue as soon as possible so we wouldn’t get trapped. As soon as we got out… we were bombarded with fliers. Which of course got me thinking… you are right Veronica! hahaha. So I am putting this offer out there. If anyone is interested in joining our Street Team, please e-mail us at info@thenoiseacademy.com. Give us your information and we’ll get back to you!
Thank you to Jason for getting me the tickets. Thank you to Luke for the t-shirt. Thank you to Joaquin for being hyped along side me. Thank you to Andrea for venturing down to the crowd below and nodding your head. Thank you to Tracey for being trapped in the pit. See you all later!
